During a recent inspection, in a newly built neighborhood, it was discovered that the builders forgot to hook up the sewer line to the city main on 18 houses and the sewage was flowing into the ground underneath the homeowners front lawns. Luckily this was discovered during an 11 month warranty inspection before the builders warranty expired.

Radon is a radioactive gas found in almost every home throughout the world, and is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. Radon is found in the soil and is easily able to enter a home through cracks and leaks in the foundation, where it can began to accumulate to dangerous levels. 

During a real estate transaction, it is always recommended to test for radon. If high levels are detected, it is usually the responsibility of the seller to have a costly radon mitigation system professionally installed due to the health risks of radon exposure.
